Welcome Message from our President, Valeska Martins |

Dear ICF South Florida Community,
May brings renewal and growth, perfectly mirroring our chapter's exciting journey ahead. I'm thrilled to see our community blossoming with innovation as we embrace a month dedicated to enhancing the business side of coaching.
Our volunteers are buzzing with fresh ideas, creating unprecedented opportunities for your professional development. This month, we're stepping beyond traditional boundaries to help you build thriving practices while maintaining the essence of transformative coaching.
|
Before we celebrate ICW, ICFSFL is proud to announce a bold, unprecedented step by securing a stand at The Business Show Miami. This marks the first time we're creating a direct bridge between coaches and potential clients, moving beyond "coaches talking to coaches" to "coaches connecting with those who need our services." We wanted to create this valuable opportunity for our members, and we're making it happen!
International Coaching Week arrives with its powerful theme: "Inspire, Transform, and Thrive." We've crafted over 20 online events designed not just for coaches, but also for HR professionals and leaders. This week offers a sanctuary for reflection, learning, and growth—a chance to be inspired, to transform your approach, and to gain practical tools for success. And don't miss our culminating last-day wellbeing in-person event to rejuvenate your spirit!
May embodies everything ICW stands for: inspiring our members to flourish both as coaches and business managers, creating pathways for business transformation aligned with your vision, and supporting you to thrive as individuals, coaches, and entrepreneurs.
This month extends an invitation to examine and strengthen the business dimension of your coaching practice, with ICFSFL enthusiastically opening doors of opportunity for you.
Join us in making May a month of professional breakthroughs!
Warmly,
Valeska Martins

The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
Patrick Lencioni |
Starting with Absence of Trust and moving up the pyramid we get to Fear of Conflict, next Lack of Commitment, to Avoidance of Accountability, and ending with Inattention to Results. Thinking back to The Speed of Trust, the first book we shared, without Trust it is difficult to achieve what is possible with complete Trust. This book really focuses on how each level contributes to what makes a team move from failing to succeeding through high-performance leadership starting with Trust.
This book talks about how each person on the team including the leader has a role that is important to the system. The book is a quick read with a lot of insights for anybody interested in working with teams.
As coaches, by being truly present and recognizing where a team is in their level of awareness of what they need, is one way we can bring value to our clients. | Meet our Board of Director Member - Dorothy Richardson |

ICF Code of Ethics: Overview of Changes
The ICF Code of Ethics is a guiding star that helps coaches navigate their journey with integrity and purpose. It’s there to help us determine the boundaries between what is acceptable and what isn’t. When you live by this Code, you’re doing more than just following guidelines — you are creating relationships that are rooted in trust and respect. And you are lifting the entire profession, keeping coaching as a powerful force for change in the world.
The ICF Code of Ethics was updated in April 2025. To help you navigate the revisions, you can review this document. This resource highlights the key changes made by the ICF Code Review Team, with callout boxes throughout the text to clearly identify and explain the revisions. May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, providing an essential opportunity for us as professional coaches to acknowledge the significance of emotional, psychological, and social well-being in both our clients' lives and our own. Mental health affects our thoughts, feelings, and actions as we navigate daily experiences, relationships, and decision-making processes. As coaches, we have a crucial role in fostering safe and supportive environments that enhance resilience and motivate clients to seek further assistance when necessary. Let’s continue to advocate for mental health as a vital component of human flourishing and lasting success. |

A Case for Coaching the Who
by Paulette Rao
Many of us became coaches because we wanted to significantly impact the lives of those around us. Wenoticed that we were gifted at helping others reach their potential and we made the decision to devote our careers to doing so. In order to create lasting change in a client’s life, we must learn to coach the client not their current circumstance. We must coach the client not the content. We must learn how to coach the “who” not the “what” if we want to facilitate sustainable change. Read more . . . |

After a long (virtual) pause, we finally gathered in person for our first post-pandemic Coach-A-Latte — and it was everything we hoped for and more! A huge thank you to Dr. Loubna Noureddin, MCC, for generously hosting and creating such a warm, welcoming space for reconnection and real talk. And major love to Graziano’s Mercado in Coral Gables for not only offering us a vibrant venue, but for keeping us fuelled with truly delicioso food and drinks.
We met on Friday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m., and the photos don't lie; the conversation flowed, the connections were rich, and yes—there was plenty of laughter (and maybe a few happy tears). |

We’re actively looking for local hosts and cozy gathering spots. Reach out to us at programming@icfsouthflorida.org to explore how we can caffeinate the coaching community near you.
